The biggest dinosaur in the forest was Gorgor — a huge head, sharp teeth, two tiny arms. When he walked the ground shook — thud! thud! — and one roar sent everyone running! Gorgor thought, “If everyone fears me, then I'm the king!”
And there was Lombu — a long-necked Brontosaurus, big as a hill, yet ever so gentle. With his long neck he'd pluck leaves from the tall trees and share them with all the little ones. How happy everyone was beside Lombu!
One day Gorgor planted himself in front of Lombu. Puffing out his chest, he roared — “Everyone fears me! You bow your head too, or else—!” ROAAAR! The birds shot off the trees in a flurry.
But Lombu wasn't scared one bit. Looking back with calm eyes, he held out a juicy leaf instead — “Don't shout, friend. Would you like one?” Gorgor was stunned — no one had ever done that before!
Evening fell. Everyone laughed and chatted around Lombu. And a little way off, in the dark, Gorgor sat all alone. Inside, his chest felt strangely empty. By making everyone afraid, he'd pushed them all away — no one came near.
Next day a big storm dropped a heavy tree across the little ones' path. Even Lombu couldn't budge it. Then Gorgor stepped up — bracing his strong legs, he heaved with all his might and shoved the tree aside! “Off you go now, little ones.” Everyone stared in amazement!
From that day the little ones no longer feared Gorgor — they loved him. Sitting beside Lombu, Gorgor smiled and said, “What roaring never won me, a little kindness did.” So tell me — do you win hearts by frightening, or by loving?
